1953 Chevrolet

Original Post April 22, 2021

Todays car is new to the hood. The proud new owner of this 1953 Chevy is the one and only Phil Caliva. Yep, the one who just sold the 1955 Dodge pickup on BAT. This car belonged to Phil’s cousin, George Guidera, who pasted away recently. Phil bought the car to keep it in the family. George, Ronnie French, and Phil worked on this car in 2005 at Phil’s old shop in Torrance,CA on 228th street. It resided in Rancho Cucamonga and now is part of our hood. Phil sent pictures. So please welcome our new addition into the hood. I am going to follow this car as a project to follow Phil’s progress. No pressure Phil!`

Todays car is a 1953 Chevrolet 210, 2 door coupe done in black. It is powered by a 350 ci SB chevy
with throttle body fuel injection. transferring that power through 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and delivering that power to the rear wheels through 9 inch limited slip rear end with 3.73 to 1 gear ratio. The front suspension is a Mustang II independent suspension. Slowing it down it has front and rear power disc brakes. It also has a tilt steering column, air conditioning and a 20 gallon stainless steel gas tank.

It is still loaded on Blue. Once it is on the ground It will need some cleaning and polishing. It looks like it is almost ready to go. We will get what plans Phil has as this project progresses. It has great bones for a nice street rod.

July 6th, 2021 Update

So today car is an update to Phil’s project, his 1953 Chevy. As you can see from the photos below., Phil has made some progress.. The car has the rest of the chrome side trim put on, the hub caps and trim rings are now in place and the car has has a basic cleaning. Phil added new hood springs, but as you can see they are not cooperating. I must say now that Phil is driving the car he is very happy.

Thanks for riding along. Frank
