1948 Oldsmobile Woody Wagon

Today’s car is a 1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic Series 66 Deluxe Station Wagon and it is owned by James Brent. I saw this car at the Golden Cove “British Car Show”, well it is mostly British, that meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month and is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. It is finished in Ivy Green Metallic with Bedford Cord fabric and red vinyl upholstery with tan carpeting, and a black vinyl top. It is powered by a 100 hp, 238.1 cu in, L-head in-line 6 cylinder with 1-single barrel Carter downdraft carburetor. It is coupled to a 4 Automatic Hydra-Matic Drive transmission with a 4.30:1 rear end. Helping slow this beauty down are 11′ hydraulic drum brakes in all four corners. It has independent knee action suspension up front with coil springs and double action hydraulic both front and rear and a 4 way stabilization bar mounted in the rear.

In 1948 Oldsmobile built 173,661 cars of which 2,707 were 66/68 series station wagons and this one is one of 553. It was built in Lancing Michigan and the coach work is by Ionia.

The original MSRP was $2,620.00. The published top speed is 82 mph with a 0-60 time of 24.5 seconds. This is very cool and rare car that got plenty of attention at Golden Cove. It will do well at GM and Oldsmobile car shows and be a hit at Coffee and Car events. What a cool car to take on a cruise to the beach for a “Board Meeting” with a surfboard or two hanging out the back. Thanks for riding along. Frank

Check out the moveable taillights to accommodate the tailgate when in the up or down position. I always love the inside roof of woody’s.
The letters MWH (missing the H) on the dash are the original owners initials.
