Todays car is a 2005 Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary Cashmere Special Edition. This car is owned by Jim Huizdos. It is finished in Cashmere tri-coat metallic and the interior is done with Cashmere accent Leather. The retro-style design evoked the first generation Thunderbird that was made from 1955 to 1957. It comes with a power a folding convertible top done in Medium Gray and a removable hardtop that has the iconic port hole windows. Powered by 3.9 L, DOHC Jaguar V8 with 280 hp. Transferring that power through a 5-speed Ford automatic transmission and delivering that power to the rear wheels through independent rear suspension (IRS) with 3.58 to 1 gear ratio. The 0 to 60 mph time is 7 seconds.

Jim’s car is numbered 939 of the 1500 built. Jim purchased the car online out of Arkansas from the 4th owner with 37,500 miles on the odometer.  The previous owner had the car for 5 years and she drove it approximately 3000 miles during that time..

The eleventh generation Thunderbird was produced for 4 years, 2002 – 2005 with a total production of 68,098 units. In 2002 – 31,368, 2003 – 14,678, 2004 – 12,757, and 2005 – 9,295. Each year of the eleventh generations production, Ford had a theme car with special colors and options. In 2002 -200 Neiman Marcus cars, 2003 – 700 James Bond 007 cars and it was used in “Die Another Day” and was driven by Halley Berry as Jinx in the movie, 2004 – 1000 Pacific Coaster cars, and 2005 – 1500 50th Anniversary cars. All 2005’s were badged as 50th Anniversary cars.

Jim states that the car is a Cruiser, Comfortable, Stylish and a Looker.  No argument from me. It is a Cars and Coffee regular here. Always good to see Jim and his cars.
