1968 Ford Mustang

Last updated on October 6, 2021

Today’s car is a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Deluxe and it is finished in Highland Green with a deluxe wood grain Black interior and 1967 Mustang GT 500 Steering Wheel. Yes, just like Steve McQueen’s car in the movie Bullitt. This car is owned by Mike Farrell and he completed a cosmetic restoration in 1998. Mike bought the car in 1977 and has been a happy owner for 44 years.

It is powered by a Ford 302 4v, 4.9 liter, V8 engine producing 300 hp and transferring that power through a top loader 4-speed manual transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Ford 9 inch rear end with a 3.25 t0 1 gear ratio. Slowing this beauty down are disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. To resemble the Buillitt car several pieces were removed from the cars, including the driving lights, running pony grille emblem, Mustang lettering and even the GT badges. American Racing Mag Wheels replaced the wheels that came on the car. The grill rear tail light area and gas cap were painted black and the back up lights were removed.

This car resembles the Bullitt car and is as clean as you have ever seen. I have always liked that Bullitt look. Great car for cars and coffee and car shows. Thanks for traveling along. Frank

Signatures are Chad McQueen on the upper dash, and Carroll Shelby on the glove box door.
