1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada

Last updated on January 27, 2024

Today’s car is a 1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada, designed by one of the most renowned automotive engineers of all time Giotto Bizzarrini. It is owned by Maurice Mentens. This alloy-bodied example is finished in metallic blue with a blue leather interior. It is powered by a Corvette engine producing 406 hp, with 327 cu in, 5.4 Liter, v8, with 4-2bbl Weber carburetors. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through a Borg Warren T-10 4-speed manual transmission to a Limited Slip differential with 3.o7:1 gears. Helping slow this baby down are disc brakes with Campagnolo calipers. The front suspension is independent A-arms with coil springs over tube shock absorbers, and a anti-roll bar. In the rear there is a de Dion tube rear suspension system with coils springs, tube shocks and an anti-roll bar.

The MSRP in 1964 was $10,500.00. The published top speed was 174.0 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 6.0 seconds. This is a rare 2 seat grand touring sports cars that only built 133 units from 1964 – 1968. It is a beautiful design that will draw car enthusiast at any European car shows or a Cars and Coffee event. I would not mind taking this for a nice weekend ride up PCH on a “Bacon Run”. We nick named the “Bacon Run” when we go up the coast through Malibu and stop at the Vintage Grocers for their breakfast buffet. They have the best Bacon! Thanks for riding along. Frank

Note, the removable panel on the top go the dash to get to the distributor.
Not one, but 2 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada’s. A 1967 on the Left and a 1968 on the Right.
