1963 Superformance Corvette Grand Sport

Today’s car is a 1963 Superformance Corvette Grand Sport and is owned by Ralph & Kelly Biase. They are a husband and wife team who starred on the reality TV show “Geared Up”. I saw this car at the San Marino Motor Classic in Pasadena, CA. Originally there were only 5 Grand Sports produced and today most of them are in museums, Super Performance under the auspices of General Motors built new as an officially licensed continuation of the “1963” Corvette Grand Sport and they legally wear Corvette badges.

It is finished admiral blue with a white racing stripe outlined in a red pinstripe. The body sits on a tubular steel chassis and is built to accept a wide range of GM engines or specialized GM engine builders The engines are mated to a Sport Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission. Slowing this beauty down are power assisted four-wheel vented Wilwood disc brakes, The full independent front and rear suspension uses Bilstein coil over progressive shocks with H&R springs. Helping steering it around corners is rack and pinion power steering. If you want some creature comforts they have power windows and air-conditioning options available.

You can purchase 1963 Superformance Corvette Grand Sport for $99,000.00 minus the engine and transmission. One sold for $145,900.00 last year on Bring A Trailer. With only the 5 original 1963 Corvette Grand Sports being built this Doppelgänger Superformance 1963 Corvette Grand Sport gets plenty of attention as they should. They are built better than the originals with their focus on drive-ability and detail on workmanship. I would not mind taking one through the Malibu canyons on an early morning run. Thanks for riding along. Frank
