1956 Ford Station Wagon

Today’s car is a 1956 Ford Country Sedan 6 passenger station wagon owned by Chris Page. I saw this car at the 20th Annual San Juan Capistrano Classic Car Show held by their local Rotary Club. It is finished in Buckskin Tan with a Brown Scroll interior. It is powered by a 200 hp, 292 cu in, Thunderbird V8 with a  Holley four barrel carburetor. mated to a three on a tree manual transmission with 4.09 Gear Ratio. Slowing it down are 11″ drum brakes in all 4-corners. It has independent front suspension with A-arms with coil springs and the rear suspension has longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs.

The total 1956 Ford production was 1,392,847 units with 108,595 of them being Country Sedan station wagons and of those 23,221 of them being 6 passenger. The MSRP was $2,428 The published top speed was 98 mph with a 0-60 time of 9.5 seconds. This is a very nice example of an original car in the post war era. What a great car to take to car shows, Cars and Coffee gatherings, or taking the family on an outing to the beach. Thanks for riding along. Frank
