1956 Ford f-100 custom Cab

Todays truck is a 1956 Ford F-100 Custom Cab with small rear window. It is finished in Volkswagen Salsa Red with a Black leather interior with a tilt steering wheel I saw this beautiful truck at the Marina del Rey Cars and Coffee and it is owned by Ross U. Ross bought this truck from his Japanese gardener who lived on West Gate Ave in West LA, CA. The gardener bought the truck new and sold it to Ross in 1973 for $800.00. Ross then drove the truck as a daily driver until 1982 when he put it in dry storage. Ross got the truck out of storage in 2008. He then took the truck to his friend Mike Herring who lives in Green Valley Lake. They worked on the truck on weekends and completed it in 2010. It is powered by a 306 cu in Ford crate racing engine producing 340 hp and transferring power through a Ford AOD four-speed automatic transmission, with the 4th gear as overdrive. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.70 t0 1 gear ratio. Helping slow this baby down are disc brakes the front and drum brakes in the rear. The truck sits on a boxed frame with a No Limit IFS (independent front Suspension). The front end was move 2 inches forward to center the tires in the front wheel openings. The biggest styling change in 1956 was the introduced of the wraparound windshield, Two mechanical additions were the 12 volt electrical system along with electric windshield wipers. Ross also added air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. The original MSRP was about $1,900 when the ’56 F-100 custom cabs were first released  That was considered a lot of money at the time.

This a great truck and I love the color combination with the wheels.. It just works. OK, this is one of my favorite pickup trucks. Subtle with no graphics but, it still gets your attention!! Thanks for riding along. Frank
