1952 Morris Oxford Series MO Saloon

Today’s car is a 1952 Morris Oxford, Series MO, 4 Door Saloon owned by Steve Thompson. I photographed this car at Golden Cove the mostly British Cars and Coffee gathering located, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. It is finished in Mist Green with green upholstery. It is powered by a 41 hp, 1.5 liter, side valve in line 4 cylinder engine, with a with single side draft SU carburetor. It is mated to a, column shift, 4-speed manual transmission with 4.88:1 rear axle gear ratio. Slowing this baby down are 4-Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes with an independent cable operated hand brake. It has independent front suspension with torsion bars and pistol type hydraulic dampeners. The rear suspension has a semi floating rear axle, longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs, telescopic dampeners, with an anti-sway bar.

The total 0f 159,960 were produced between 1948 and 1954. The MSRP was $2,200.00. It has a published top speed of 70 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 32.9 seconds. This is a great example of an original car that has been maintained with originality in mind. While not a concours car this is a rare car that Steve enjoys driving and showing. I like watch the delight of people who enjoy seeing his car and his enthusiasm. Thank you for riding along. Frank
