1936 Ford Deluxe 3 Window Coupe

Last updated on July 31, 2021

Todays car is a 1936 Ford Deluxe 3 Window Coupe. Finished in a Volkswagen Red with a Black Leather interior with a tilt steering wheel. Just a FYI, do you know how many VW reds there are? Too many!!! I saw this beautiful car at the Marina del Rey Cars and Coffee and it is owned by Ross U. Ross saw this car parked on the Ashton Street in 1970 and left a note saying he wanted to buy the car. Well 1 1/2 years later Ross got a call back and ended up buying the car for $1000.00. Ross is the 4th owner of this car. There was the original owner, the second owner is a gentlemen named Frank Brown (who bought and sold cars in the area), the third is the person who Ross bought it from and Ross. This was an all original car. Ross got the car to his friend Mike Herring’s place in Green Valley Lake, CA. They worked on the car in Mike’s garage on weekends from 2004 to 2006. Ross has put over 9,000 miles on it since it was completed. It is powered by a 350 cu in, 5.7 liter Chevrolet crate engine producing 330 hp. Check out the very cool Oldsmobile rocker arm covers that give it a very retro look. Transferring that power through a 200r4 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.70 t0 1 gear ratio. Helping slow this baby down are disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. The car sits on a TCI complete chassis. The Briggs body is the only original part of the car. It also has air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. The MSRP for Deluxe 3-Window Coupe was $565.00. The total number of 1936 Fords produced were 930,778 and only 21,446 we’re Deluxe 3-Window Coupes .

This is a beautiful car. It is always an attention getter. Great car for cars and coffee or just about anything you want to do. Thanks for riding along. Frank

Thanks to Scott Ross’s son for the great engine shots.
