1927 Ford Model T Roadster

Last updated on June 28, 2023

Today’s car is a 1927 Ford Model T traditional hot rod known as “Ruby” and owned by Tim McMaster. I photographed this car at the LA Roadster Show which is held at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA on the Fathers Day weekend. It is finished in a warm “Ruby” finish with tan and black pin striping and a tan and Ruby interior. It is powered by a period correct Ford flat head V8 with 4-single barrel Stromberg 97 carburetors and fined aluminum Offenhauser heads. Slowing this baby down are hydraulic drum brakes all the way around. It has solid front axle with a single transverse semi-elliptical leaf spring and dual action shock absorbers up front and in the rear is a quick change reared with a single transverse semi-elliptical leaf spring and dual action shock absorbers.

The Ford Model T’s were produced from 1909 to 1927 with a total 0f 14,690,510 being built with 399,725 being produced in 1927 and of those 90,583 were Runabouts. The MSRP was $360.00.

This is a beautiful example of a post war Hot Rod that just caught my eye. It is not easy to pick out cars when there are so many great cars to choose from, but everything just looked right to me on this one including the latin phrase with the Grim Reaper. What a great car to take car shows, Cars and Coffee events or just a cruising. Thanks for riding along. Frank

My interpretation is Celeritate Est Vita and and the Grim Reaper = Life is fast and death comes.
